Feeding the Travel Bug

Over the next two months Adam and I will make 2 trips: The first is an overnight in New York City next week and the second is 3 days and 3 nights in August in Florida.

I've managed to, very quickly, acquire reservations to The Daily Show. I saw a status-update on the show's Facebook page and was led here. Within 15 minutes nearly 1000 tickets were spoken for, it was incredible, but I had already managed to reserve 2 free tickets for ourselves. We booked the Fung Wah Bus (Chinatown to Chinatown bus from Boston to NYC for $15 each way) and made reservations at the NYC-Manhattan HI Hostel. I've stayed at this hostel before and though it's very expensive, I really liked it there and it's significantly cheaper than hotels in the area. So far that's all we've planned, but we've been able to pay for the ride and accommodations with our new Etsy shop, Cute As A Geek.

Our Florida trip was on a whim, my whim. Adam would have been okay waiting to go, but I wanted to get there as soon as possible. The plan was to go to Hogwarts and Legoland, but in my rush to book, I forgot that Legoland won't be open until the fall. Adam didn't remind me, so I assume he was okay with going to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure (home of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter) sooner, rather than later, as well. Since it will be August and about 29347293847 degrees, we chose Typhoon Lagoon as the other park we visit. We fly in on a red eye and out at 6 in the morning, not ideal, but less expensive. We'll rent a car but stay at Adam's grandmother's house to save money. This will be great because we'll shop and make our own meals, borrow towels, swim in the pool, relax.

I hope this is enough to hold me off until Africa! Mary comes home in August for her brother's wedding and we'll get to chat and plan for December and January. The brother whose wedding it is and his future wife will be visiting Mary at the same time as me and we'll all head up to Victoria Falls together. We've already discussed rafting the Zambezi, bungee jumping on the border over the river (on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe), and a safari. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to top that trip.
