Dates Stayed: October, 2004 & January, 2005 (This is the first hostel I’ve ever stayed at.)
Open: You can only check in between 5pm and 10pm (though as a guest you’ll have 24-hour access).
Price Per Night: Can’t remember how much they were back then. Now, they are $23 +tax for a dorm bed with linens and private rooms are $58 for 2 adults (plus 2 children), additional adults are $12 each.
WiFi: Didn’t have a computer; Now the website says:
Self-Service Kitchen: Yes, it’s well-equipped and there is an herb garden out back. This is a green hostel and you are expected to recycle and compost.
Lockers: I think there were cabinets that you could lock in the rooms. In private rooms, you can lock the door. The website says:
Location: I’ve only had a car while staying here. It’s a short drive from the North Conway Outlets, ski lodges, the Kangamanga Highway (great for its views of foliage), Mount Washington, & the Mount Washington Hotel. I’m pretty sure I remember that they rent bikes out.
Favorite Part: It’s a homey, green hostel. You’re expected to take your shoes off when you enter so you don’t trek mud through the house. They recycle, compost, and you can pick herbs out of their garden in the back.
Least Favorite Part: Times that it’s open for check-ins isn’t very convenient but since I’ve always had a car when staying there, things can be stored in the car and the hostel is only needed at dinner time and for sleeping.

My Thoughts: This was the very first hostel I ever stayed it. It’s a small quaint little house that you wouldn’t know was a hostel from the look of it. You walk in and there’s a small desk there where you can check in. From there you ditch your shoes (to prevent trekking mud through the house) and head down a hall with the living room and kitchen on your left and the stairs to your right. Upstairs, I think I remember that there are 3 dorms and a few private rooms. The kitchen is well-equipped, the living room has games and a shelf of books, and it’s very clean (there is no maid service, you clean up after yourself). I don’t remember anything specific about the bathrooms except that they are off the hallway and for everyone’s use.
I’ve stayed here with a guy once and a girl the second time. They were great and made one of the three dorms a co-ed room for us so we didn’t need to be separated and they only placed other couples in there with us (it bothers me when lone men are put in couples room, makes me feel a little less safe). When I stayed here with another woman we were put in a female-only dorm room.
It’s in a great location. I stayed here the first time while on a Northeast road trip where we explored New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Upstate New York. We headed down the Kangamanga after staying here. The second time I stayed here was when my best friend and I skied at Mount Cranmore which was a very short ride away. I would certainly stay here again and intend to!
